We have supported several interesting research based learning and writing projects [link] and as a result, I’ve been reading in this area, looking at different views of undergraduate research. I’d come across some of Angela Brew’s work in this area so was delighted to meet her at a recent SRHE event and delighted that she accepted an invitation to come to London to talk to the Thinking Writing team about her work.
She told us she has recently set up the first Australasia undergraduate conference at her university in Macquaire Australia. She has received a healthy number of abstracts, 145 in total, so undergraduate research in Australasia appears to be strong. There are also established undergraduate research conferences in USA, where the 27th annual conference will be held next year (http://www.cur.org/ncur_2013/) and Britain, where BCUR is in its third year (http://www.bcur.org/).
